Mastering Simplicity Class #12: Calibrating Center

$30.00

The Mastering Simplicity sessions reflect how yoga was once taught, with teacher and student meeting each other with openness and inquisitiveness about what might arise.  Because Donna wishes to teach from what is most current within her practice, there won’t be a detailed description of each monthly class until after it has been broadcast.  This is deliberate so that we can enter each class without preconceived expectations and receive fresh awareness.  This is an invitation to explore and discover new experiences from often familiar practices.

The classes are offered monthly and will consist of a 2- hour livestream class. 1.5 hours of guided practice followed by 30 minutes for questions, reflections, and community connection.

This class was recorded in January 2025.

Recordings will be available for 30 days after purchase, unless you choose to subscribe. Subscriptions offer greater benefits, particularly for teachers, which you can learn more about here.

See the description of this class below for more details.

Physical Focus: Therapeutic core release and core strengthening practices

What’s Inside: This class begins with a brief introduction on the Yoga Sutras which note the significance of the deep navel center and the “powers” that come when we focus our attention here.  After passively releasing one of the deepest abdominal muscles, the iliopsoas, we gradually move into more challenging core strengthening practices.  The use of a partially deflated MR Ball under the pelvis during this supine work requires that we learn to balance and engage our core in new and exciting ways. We finish with a simple Yoga Nidra practice designed to be learned so that it can be self-guided at a later stage.

Key Focus: While this is a floor practice class, don’t be deceived.  It is surprisingly strong and will awaken sleepy core muscles as well as bringing the mind into a state of concentrated attention. The Yoga Nidra at the end will leave you feeling relaxed, awake and aware.
