Offer up every joy,
be awake at all moments to the news
that is always arriving
out of silence.
~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Theme: Front, Back and Sides
Physical Focus: Spinal release and core strengthening practices supine, prone, and standing.
What’s Inside: This class begins with a spinal release practice on the floor and progresses to core strengthening of the front and back body in supine, prone, all-fours and standing positions. Lateral extension and rotational movements are interspersed in the sequencing to release tension and avoid strain.
Key Focus: Gentle, slow but powerful movements gradually build core strength and stability. Strengthening movements are usually practiced in the sagittal plane (flexion and extension) and have the potential to create strain if not interspersed with movements in the lateral plane. Side bending and twisting release the deep intervertebral muscles of the back. The net result is a feeling of length, strength and vitality.
