Seeing “money” and “yoga” in the same sentence can be very confronting. Even at a time when many teachers feel their practices are hanging by a financial thread. As an experienced yoga teacher said to me recently, “Remuneration isn't something that gets talked about openly.”
We are often reluctant to ask for recognition of the real value of our work and our time. Or to be confident, unselfconscious, and unrepentant about putting a figure on it.
We need to ask ourselves: How do we take back self-sovereignty of our own true worth?
During every Art of Teaching training, I devote a session to talk about money. (I know. Eeeeek!)
But it is only by confronting and understanding our fears, doubts, and disquiet that we can overcome them.
In these tough and uncertain times knowledge is power. The exploitative myths swirling around the yoga industry need to be exposed, challenged, and put to rest.
For months now, I have been researching the global issues that underpin gender financial inequity, as well as the specific challenges that yoga teachers face in their money dealings.
In my upcoming seminar and curated Q & A, I aim to motivate participants to assess how these external forces may be unconsciously shaping their beliefs and driving behaviors that undermine their ability to generate income. And to offer strategies for building a more sustainable and prosperous yoga career.
Who will benefit?
- Yoga teachers who struggle to align their spiritual practice with their money values.
- Yoga teachers who want to feel more confident asking for fair value for their work.
- Yoga teachers who want to be better prepared to manage money matters with students, clients, and employers.
- Yoga teachers who wish to make yoga teaching their primary source of income.
I warmly invite you to take this opportunity to explore unshackling yourself from the hidden constraints limiting your earning success and to positively build your confidence in negotiating your true value.
