Something special happens when we come together in physical space. It’s like the difference between talking to a friend on the phone and seeing them in person. You gain so much more information about each other. In a group gathering there’s a tangible shift in being part of a collective focus and energy that energizes and potentiates what can happen.
During this last teaching tour, I met many of you who have attended my online offerings over the last five years. Thank you for your support. It was truly impressive to see just how much you had learned and how far ahead you were in understanding the principles that I teach. But what I also noticed was how many of you were reaching out for extra help: to be observed, to be confirmed, to get feedback, and to have hands-on movement repatterning. There was a strong desire to engage and discuss questions that were coming up for you in your practice and in your teaching.
It gives me deep satisfaction to be able to engage in a more personal way and to give the kind of subtle and nuanced suggestions that are only possible through touch. It was exciting to see how many of you then were able to make a leap from sort of “getting it” to fully embodied knowledge. For teachers, that’s the ultimate superpower because it’s a resource you can draw on forever.
While I’m truly excited by every event on the calendar for 2026, there are two gatherings that will be of particular interest for teachers. The residential intensive in Northern Italy will offer an opportunity for immersive learning and making new connections. And who doesn’t want to go to Italy? You can refresh anatomical and experiential understanding without the distraction of everyday life concerns. Supported by the nourishment of a beautiful setting, this is where learning can engage all our senses and recharge our batteries. In between classes we’ll be eating together, sharing walks, or simply having downtime around the pool. Or take a long overdue nap in the warmth of the Italian summer. It’s a retreat and intensive all rolled into one.

For our UK enthusiasts, Beverley Nolan and I have been putting our heads together about how to address the needs of teachers. We’ve decided to offer an intensive exclusively for teachers. Reawakening to Self is intended as an antidote for those of you who feeling a bit tuckered out and wanting to reinvigorate your practice and enthusiasm. It’s also about having an opportunity for the kind of meaningful collegial connections that can only happen in a safe and confidential space. (N.B. The Turing Lock, Eddington accommodation is only a 2-minute walk from our beautiful Storey’s Field venue. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Family Suite (one with twin beds) can accommodate up to four people. If you register first as a member of Turing Locke, you can get a 10% discount on your booking.)
