Mastering Simplicity Class #11: Easing into Opening – Pranayama and Seated Forward Bends and Twists

$30.00

The Mastering Simplicity sessions reflect how yoga was once taught, with teacher and student meeting each other with openness and inquisitiveness about what might arise.  Because Donna wishes to teach from what is most current within her practice, there won’t be a detailed description of each monthly class.  This is deliberate so that we can enter each class without preconceived expectations and receive fresh awareness.  This is an invitation to explore and discover new experiences from often familiar practices.

The classes are offered monthly and will consist of a 2- hour livestream class. 1.5 hours of guided practice followed by 30 minutes for questions, reflections, and community connection.

This class was recorded in December 2024.

Recordings will be available for 30 days after purchase, unless you choose to subscribe. Subscriptions offer greater benefits, particularly for teachers, which you can learn more about here.

See the description of this class below for more details.

Physical Focus: Floor Extension & Standing Postures

What’s Inside: This class begins with a brief discussion about resistance to practice; exploring some of the reasons why we may avoid our yoga practice.  We use pleasurable and easy practices to entice ourselves onto the mat, beginning with supine spinal extension and then moving into standing practices.   The class is structured around a progressive development of the Sun Salutation with the insertion of increasingly more challenging standing postures, culminating in Revolved Triangle Pose.   Coming full circle, we return to the floor to practice active prone back bends and hip releases, ending in a simple and brief relaxation.

Key Focus: This class is about breaking through physical inertia and mental lassitude, skillfully enticing ourselves with easy floor practices and gradually introducing more challenging standing practices.  The class is intended to open, extend and invigorate.
