Many people who habitually fall asleep in traditional Yoga Nidra practice find they are able to stay awake during this practice. You will then be guided through a process of full body Nadi Shodhana: a practice usually done by alternating the flow of breath between the left and the right nostril, but in this case done as a whole body practice.

Alternating the attention between the left and right sides of the body helps to balance the two hemispheres of the brain and the harmony between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. We use this somatic work as a preparation to explore cultivation of a positive emotion as well as its opposite.

This Yoga Nidra helps to build a greater threshold for being with both comfortable and uncomfortable emotions, leading to greater resilience and calmness in the face of life’s challenges.

*This progression was first introduced to Donna through colleague and iRest® teacher Jennifer Cabanero.
